Job summary

Select Specialty Hospital OKC is seeking a Unit Secretary to support patient care units with clerical duties and accurate order transcription. The role emphasizes independent judgment, timely paperwork, and coordination with nursing leadership in a critical illness recovery setting.

Successful candidates will have a high school diploma and familiarity with medical terminology, plus the ability to handle phone communications and patient transport coordination as part of a dedicated team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience with medical files and terminology.

Responsibilities

• Provide clerical services to patient care units and transcribe orders accurately.
• Answer the telephone and relay messages promptly.
• Maintain close communication with the Charge Nurse/House Supervisor.
• Handle all required paperwork in a timely manner.
• Order supplies from Materials Management as needed.
• Verify physician privileges prior to transcribing orders.
• Transcribe and flag orders from charts correctly.
• Arrange patient transport for tests not available in-house.
