Job summary

HCA Healthcare seeks a Unit Secretary for the Dover area, based at Portsmouth Regional Hospital. This full-time day shift (36 hours/week) role focuses on creating a welcoming, organized space and ensuring clear communication to support patient care and family information.

You will handle patient records, physician orders, and inter-team communications, while upholding confidentiality and a compassionate, team-oriented approach.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 6 months of medical-related admitting/clerical experience required.

Responsibilities

• Greet and guide patients and visitors with warmth and professionalism, offering updates and ensuring they feel informed.
• Maintain patient records accurately, enter physician orders, and protect patient information.
• Coordinate communications between inbound calls and care team members to keep the unit connected.
• Keep the environment clean, organized, and well-stocked to promote safety and comfort.
• Take initiative to solve challenges, support daily operations, and foster a culture of respect and teamwork.

You will use clear, compassionate communication and attention to detail to keep the unit running smoothly and caring for others like family - one shift at a time.

Your responsibilities will include

• Greeting and guiding patients and visitors with warmth and professionalism, offering updates, and ensuring they feel informed and supported
• Maintaining patient records accurately, entering physician orders, and protecting patient information
• Handling all communications between incoming calls and care team members promptly and clearly to keep the unit connected
• Keeping the environment clean, organized, and well-stocked to promote safety and comfort

What qualifications you will need
