Job summary

The Air Force Global Strike Command is seeking a dedicated administrative support specialist to serve as the primary point of contact for the squadron commander/director and to support various administrative programs. Job description

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the primary point of contact to the squadron commander/director for all administrative support programs.

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:

Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade NK-01, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes planning and organizing management programs and functions of an organization such as cybersecurity liaison (CL), Government Travel card (GTC), Defense Travel System (DTS), drug demand reduction, health care, fitness, Government Purchase cards (GPC), safety, Automated Data Processing Equipment (ADPE), security, supply, civilian timecard and unit recognition programs; assisting/supporting military and civilian personnel issues and manpower resource requirements; knowledge of various office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to support office operations and produce a variety of documents; problem analysis, problem resolutions, and development of concrete action plans to solve problems; plan, organize work, and meet deadlines.

OR EDUCATION:

Four (4) years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. NOTE: You must submit a copy of transcripts.

OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position, only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience. NOTE: You must submit a copy of transcripts.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs):
  1. 1. Knowledge of the organizational and functional responsibilities and operations of an organization.
  2. 2. Knowledge of various office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to support office operations and produce a variety of documents such as letters, reports, spreadsheets, databases, and graphs.
  3. 3. Knowledge of structure, programs and work methods of organization for personnel/manning issues.
  4. 4. Skill in fact-finding, problem analysis, problem resolutions, and development of concrete action plans to solve problems.
  5. 5. Ability to gather, analyze and present facts, communicate effectively, using tact and courtesy and posses the ability to plan, organize work, and meet deadlines.
  6. 6. Ability to plan and organize management programs and functions of an organization.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE:

Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE:

Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
