Job summary

Ciena Healthcare in Michigan is seeking an experienced Unit Manager to lead and oversee nursing care for skilled nursing guests. You will mentor RN, LPN, CNA staff and coordinate health education as part of a collaborative team.

The role emphasizes leadership, teaching, and strong teamwork within a supportive environment focused on compassionate care for residents.

Qualifications

• Current CPR certification and nursing specialty certification desired.
• Management or supervisory experience in long-term care preferred.
• Geriatric nursing experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Supervises nursing care provided by RN, LPN, CNA and others.
• Reviews and implements nursing procedures and systems.
• Assesses and evaluates systems enabling quality guest care and staff performance.
• Uses the nursing process to provide individualized care.
• Contributes to guest assessments (MDS/CAA) and care plan development.
• Evaluates guests’ responses to nursing interventions.
• Understanding medication rationales and administering treatments as needed.

Responsibilities

Supervises nursing care provided by Registered Nurses (RN), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) and others.

Reviews and implements all nursing procedures and systems.

Assesses and evaluates the systems which facilitate the delivery of quality guest care and performance of staff.

Uses a systematic approach in the nursing process to provide individualized nursing care.

Contributes to the guest assessments (MDS/CAA’s) and the development and implementation of a plan of care.

Evaluates guests’ responses to nursing interventions.

Understands the rational for the use of medications and treatments and correctly administers as needed.

Qualifications

Current CPR certification and additional certification in a nursing specialty desired.

Management or supervisor experience in long-term care or geriatric nursing preferred.
