Job summary

Majestic Care is seeking a Unit Manager to lead a nursing unit in a South Bend long-term care community. You will direct operations, staffing, and resident care to ensure the highest quality outcomes.

Requires RN or LPN license in Indiana, active CPR or willingness to obtain within 30 days, and at least three years of nursing experience (one in long-term care). A $5,000 sign-on bonus is offered with competitive compensation.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited school of nursing.
• Licensed as an LPN or RN in the state employed; license must be active and in good standing.
• Active CPR license or the ability to obtain within the first 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Direct the entire operation of a nursing unit in a long-term care community.
• Hire, discipline, and evaluate care team members; plan and facilitate meetings.
• Monitor staffing, census, and budget to meet resident needs and quality care goals.
• Develop and evaluate programs for recruitment, retention, and education of nursing staff.
• Coordinate with physicians to ensure timely and appropriate interventions.

Position Overview

The Unit Manager is responsible for directing the entire operation of a nursing unit in a long-term community.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform general management functions such as hiring, disciplining, and evaluating care team members.
• Plan and facilitate meetings and committees to address resident care issues/concerns for the unit.
• Manage area of responsibility with the goal of achieving and maintaining the highest quality of care possible.
• Participate in developing, implementing, and evaluating programs that promote the recruitment, retention, development, and continuing education of nursing staff members.
• Contact physicians as needed/necessary and ensure physician interventions are timely and appropriate.
• Review staffing patterns and census of nursing units and reassign personnel when necessary to ensure staffing meets resident needs and budgetary controls.
• Monitor the clinical operations of the unit and resident’s conditions and ensure that appropriate and quality care is administered.
• Obtain medications, supplies and medical records needed to provide safe, efficient, and therapeutic are to residents on a continuing basis.
• Assist in the orientation of new personnel, monitoring their skills and guides and observe care team members that may need assistance with procedures.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited school of nursing.
• Licensed as an LPN or RN in the state employed; license must be active, valid, and in good standing.
• Valid CPR teaching certificate preferred, but not required.
• Must hold an active CPR license or the ability to obtain within the first 30-days of employment. CPR license must be kept active and current throughout employment.
• Three years of nursing experience, of which one year in a long-term care environment.
