Job summary

AdventHealth in Daytona Beach, FL is seeking a Health Unit Coordinator to support nursing units with timely documentation and patient flow. You will interact with physicians, staff, and patients to ensure smooth admissions, transfers, and discharges.

The role requires Basic Life Support (BLS) and hospital experience; High School grad or equivalent is preferred, with competency in Microsoft Office and medical terminology.

Qualifications

• Sufficient knowledge of English and spelling to perform various non-clinical duties.
• Neat and legible handwriting.
• Knowledgeable of medical terminology.
• Computer and typing skills.
• Organizational skills.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (preferred).

Job Description

Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure the smooth operation of the department or unit. Accesses the medication room to place medications in a secure area upon arrival to the floor. Other duties as assigned. Exhibits a desire to learn and upgrade skills. Supports quality standards and initiatives set by the department. Participates in practice changes resulting from performance improvement activities and accurately documents and monitor activities as needed. Interacts with patients in a manner appropriate to their age, acuity, and culture. Posts pertinent patient data in a timely manner. Responds appropriately in emergency situations. Performs indirect patient care duties related to admission, transfer, and discharge.
