Job summary

AdventHealth Orlando is seeking a Health Unit Coordinator to support the department operations in the Orlando, Florida campus. You will ensure smooth patient flow, manage documentation, and coordinate with physicians and nurses on the floor.

The role requires hospital experience, BLS, and solid English handwriting and computer skills. Day-to-day tasks include updating patient charts, placing medications in secure areas, and assisting with admissions, transfers, and discharge.

Qualifications

• 1+ year hospital experience in a health unit coordinator role
• BLS certification required
• Strong English spelling and handwriting

Job Description

Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure the smooth operation of the department or unit. Notifies and calls other departments or physicians when necessary and places appropriate information on the chart, forms, computer, and electronic record. Accesses the medication room to place medications in a secure area upon arrival to the floor. Other duties as assigned. Exhibits a desire to learn and upgrade skills. Supports quality standards and initiatives set by the department. Participates in practice changes resulting from performance improvement activities and accurately documents and monitor activities as needed. Interacts with patients in a manner appropriate to their age, acuity, and culture. Posts pertinent patient data in a timely manner. Responds appropriately in emergency situations. Performs indirect patient care duties related to admission, transfer, and discharge.

• Sufficient knowledge of English and spelling to perform various non-clinical duties. [Required]

Work Experience

• 1+ recent hospital experience or similar as a health unit coordinator; such as medical office or outpatient clinic. [Required]
