Job summary

Ohana Pacific Health, with Hale Makua Health Services in Maui, seeks a Unit Helper to support our nursing team. No certification is required to start, making healthcare accessible while you explore a CNA pathway.

You can remain a Unit Helper as long as desired or progress toward CNA and beyond, with a clear pathway toward credentials and RN opportunities in a mission-driven, compassionate environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• No prior healthcare experience or certification is required.
• Must be at least 18 years old and able to obtain 2 step TB clearance.

Responsibilities

• Make and tidy beds and perform light housekeeping in resident areas.
• Answer call lights and relay resident requests to nursing staff.
• Refill water pitchers and assist with meal setup and delivery.
• Transport residents within the facility.
• Provide friendly companionship to residents during shifts.

Hale Makua Health Services is a Maui based non-profit that improves the well-being of those in its care through compassionate personalized health services. We are devoted to helping Maui's Elders live their best lives. Hale Makua's Kahului location is a 254 -bed nursing facility.

The Position

At Hale Makua Health Services, we know that a healthcare career is a big decision - and not everyone is ready to commit to certification before they've even set foot on a nursing unit. The Unit Helper role is your chance to step into skilled nursing care, work alongside our nursing team, and get a real feel for the work. There's no obligation to enter a certification program - this role is designed for people who want to try healthcare on for size.

If you decide it's the right path for you, we'll be there to help you take the next step. Hale Makua offers a clear, supported career pathway - from Unit Helper, to Certified Nurse Aide, and for those who want to go further, toward becoming a Registered Nurse.

No pressure and no clock is running. You can stay a Unit Helper as long as you'd like, or use it as the first step of a long-term nursing career.

Requirements

• Current and valid 2 Step TB clearance (can be done in-house).
• No prior healthcare experience or certification required
