Job summary

Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation is seeking a Program Supervisor - Unit Fire Management Officer for the Stillwater Unit in Montana. The role directs fire-management programs, coordinates resources, and guides interagency partners to protect life and property.

You will supervise staff, develop prevention and suppression plans, manage budgets and readiness, and provide technical assistance on forest-management projects within the unit.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in forestry, fire management or related field.
• Five years in professional forestry with fire-management experience.
• ICS training and related fire program management experience.
• Two years of supervisory experience.
• Ability to obtain Division/Group Supervisor and Type 3 IC qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Plan and direct unit-wide fire-management programs and activities.
• Coordinate resources and supervise staff in fire prevention and suppression.
• Provide guidance to county boards, incident management teams and volunteers.
• Oversee readiness, budgeting, and initial-attack planning.
• Advise on subdivision design, fire laws, and public education on fire prevention.
