Job summary

Boys & Girls Club of the Northern Plains is seeking a Unit Director in Vermillion, SD. The role leads day-to-day operations, supports club staff, and ensures high-quality programs and member experiences while maintaining a safe, welcoming environment.

The successful candidate will manage budgets, collaborate with leadership, and build strong relationships with families and schools. This is a full-time, exempt leadership position requiring flexible hours during school breaks and after-school

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Demonstrated experience working with youth preschool through 12th grade.
Proven management and supervisory experience in youth-serving or nonprofit environments.
Strong leadership presence with coaching, mentoring, and accountability.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Deep understanding of youth development and safety aligned with BGCA values.
CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain after hire.

Responsibilities

Oversee day-to-day Club operations, staffing, scheduling, and facility needs.
Ensure access to safe, engaging, high-quality programs for members.
Be present on-site to support operations and programs as needed.
Monitor membership, attendance, and program participation; maintain documentation.
Ensure compliance with BGCA standards, safety requirements, and reporting.
