Job summary

SSC Services for Education is seeking a Unit Director for Columbia, SC, to oversee cleanliness, sanitation, and security of assigned facilities. You will coordinate janitorial work, supervise supervisors and staff, and ensure customer satisfaction while maintaining a safe, equitable environment.

You will assign duties, inspect work, train and discipline employees, and maintain equipment and supplies. Strong communication with managers and occupants is essential.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years as supervisor in housekeeping or service with high customer contact.
• Strong work ethic and initiative for quality and service.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Excellent problem-solving in individual and group settings.
• Ability to engage and motivate staff.
• Understanding of budgeting and profit/loss concepts.
• Strong administrative and organizational skills and prioritization.
• Ability to operate heavy cleaning equipment.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Communicates between shifts to ensure task completion.
• Trains workers in janitorial methods and equipment use.
• Issues supplies and equipment to ensure quality and timely delivery.
• Performs daily inspections and follows up on assignments.
• Cross trains and develops personnel for multiple positions.
• Holds weekly staff reports and inspections.
• Meets with staff weekly to review tasks and projects.
• Secures building after work is finished.
• Guides project completion within budget and timelines.
• Reports budgetary issues to management.
