Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse Unit Coordinator for the Intensive Care Unit. Ideal candidates will have at least 2 years of Registered Nursing Experience in an ICU setting. The RN Unit Coordinator demonstrates proficiency in nursing practice for the assigned specialty area and provides clinical leadership for the delivery of nursing care in the department. Under the direction of the department manager, the coordinator leads safety and quality initiatives, focuses on and simplifies workflow, and contributes to staff development, increasing staff satisfaction and promoting excellent customer service.
This mixed Critical Care (ICU) unit has 15 beds and a Step‑down (IMCU) unit with 5 beds. The unit contains 15 private rooms equipped with Philips monitoring and state‑of‑the‑art Hil Rom technology, low air loss, continual lateral rotation, and percussion capabilities. The unit serves a broad range of patient conditions, providing services for neurology, cardiology, gastroenterology, oncology, nephrology, and surgical patients. A palliative care team guides nurses with an end‑of‑life touch. Critical Care NP/PA are on site 24/7, and daily interdisciplinary rounds include nursing input. Registered nurses can expect a 1:1 or 1:2 RN‑patient ratio depending on patient needs, a 12‑hour shift schedule with rotating weekends. Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is a primary plus stroke center, following American Stroke Association (ASA) treatment guidelines. Specialty highlights include ventriculostomy monitoring, NICOM, balloon pump, transvenous pacing, CRRT, and more.
