Job summary

Mercy Medical Center Redding is seeking an Unit Aide to provide essential non-clinical support to patients and staff, assisting other members of the healthcare team with providing basic patient care under the direction of a Staff Nurse.

Every day you will support daily unit operations by assisting with patient comfort needs, transporting patients, performing light cleaning, stocking supplies, and relaying messages to nurses to ensure an organized environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience as Unit Coordinator or Monitor Tech in an acute care setting.
  • Basic Cardiac Dysrhythmia knowledge and BLS certification required.
  • Two years of college coursework preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs basic patient care under RN guidance, including ADL tasks and vital sign collection.
  • Transports patients, assists with daily unit operations, and stocks supplies.
  • Completes documentation according to hospital policy.
  • Relays messages to nurses and supports the healthcare team to maintain efficiency.
  • Advocates for patient rights and participates in quality/process improvement.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Unit Aide, you will provide essential non-clinical support and comfort to patients and staff, assisting other members of the healthcare team with providing basic patient care under the direction of a Staff Nurse.

Every day you will support daily unit operations by assisting with patient comfort needs, transporting patients, performing light cleaning, stocking supplies, and relaying messages to nurses to ensure an organized environment.

To be successful in this role, you will exhibit a helpful, compassionate demeanor, strong attention to detail, and a proactive approach to maintaining unit efficiency and team support within a dynamic healthcare setting.

  • Performs basic patient care under the direction of the RN which includes assisting with patient ADL routine, measurement of intake and output and obtaining vital signs
  • Completes appropriate documentation which includes patient records ensuring it is completed according to hospital policy
  • Assumes responsibility for professional growth by taking advantage of the available opportunities
  • Participates in peer review and staff development, which includes unit and quality process improvement activities
  • Actively advocates for patient rights and identifies potential conflict. Seeks counsel for resolution of conflict
  • Communicates as appropriate with other members of the healthcare team
Job Requirements

Required

  • Previous experience as a Unit Coordinator or six months of previous experience as a Monitor Tech or equivalent level of experience in an acute case facility
  • Basic Cardiac Dysrhythmia
  • Basic Life Support - BLS through an American Heart Association provider

Preferred

  • Two years of college and over two years experience as a Unit Coordinator II/Tech Monitor Tech
  • Two years experience equivalent level in an acute care facility
