Dignity Health - Mercy Medical Center Mt. Shasta is seeking a Unit Coordination II/Unit Tech to support RN-led patient care and unit operations.

You will manage information, answer calls, assist with ADLs, obtain vital signs, and maintain telemetry equipment, ensuring accurate admissions and discharge documentation. Preferred candidates will have prior unit coordination or nursing assistant experience in acute care, with a current Monitor Technician Certificate and BLS certification.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as Unit Coordinator II/Tech or similar in an acute care facility or Nursing assistant course and/or patient care experience
  • Basic Life Support - BLS through an American Heart Association provider

Responsibilities

  • Receives, organizes, and directs information that comes to the unit; answers the telephone and directs calls, records and relays messages, photocopies reports/information, files information, maintains and is accountable for the location, function, and cleaning of the telemetry units.
  • Interacts professionally with visitors, families, and others; supports patient satisfaction goals and expectations.
  • Performs patient care under the direction of the RN including assisting with ADL routines, measurement of intake and output, mobility activities and obtaining vital signs.
  • Completes appropriate documentation including patient records per hospital policy; performs admissions, discharge, transfer, organ donation and death documentation.
  • Requisitions supplies, equipment, maintenance and repair services; prepares related forms.
  • Maintains Monitor Technician Certificate and can competently perform telemetry monitoring.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Unit Coordination II/Unit Tech, you will help the healthcare team provide safe, therapeutic, and basic patient care under the direction of an RN, so they can ensure optimal patient outcomes and efficient unit operations across various age ranges.

Every day you will manage incoming information, answer calls, and perform patient care duties such as assisting with ADLs and obtaining vital signs. You will be expected to maintain cleanliness, requisition supplies, perform telemetry monitoring, and ensure accurate documentation related to admissions, discharges, and patient rhythms.

To be successful in this role, you must have prior experience as a Unit Coordinator II/Tech or similar position in an acute care facility, a Nursing Assistant course, or patient care experience, including a current Monitor Technician Certificate.

Job Requirements
Required
  • Previous experience as a Unit Coordinator II/Tech or similar position in an acute care facility or Nursing assistant course and/or patient care experience

Preferred
  • High School Graduate and Nursing unit clerical experience
