Job summary

Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, OH seeks a part-time patient registration specialist for the Emergency Department. Work 16 hours per week from 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., with every third weekend and holiday rotation.

Base pay is $20.50 per hour plus shift differentials; benefits are eligible. Responsibilities include greeting and registering critical and trauma patients, answering calls, scheduling appointments, coordinating admissions paperwork, and maintaining clear unit

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; associate degree preferred.
• One year of health care experience preferred.
• Demonstrated computer skills and ability to navigate current technology systems.
• Excellent customer service and organizational skills.

Essential Functions

• Provides excellent customer service to patients and families by applying best practices and standard operating procedures.
• Register’s patients in critical care and trauma situations. Obtains accurate patient information on registrations.
• Establishes and maintains open communication with all departments and interacts with and clinical staff in those areas. Pages Providers as needed in the ED and follow ups to assure callers are connected.
• Assists in the shadowing and precepting of new employees.
• Order supplies and assures sufficient stock for unit needs.
• Answers internal and external phone calls. Assuring accurate response and follow up with each call.

Education Requirement

High school graduate.

Associates degree preferred.
