Job summary

South Texas Health System is seeking a Nursing Assistant to provide safe, patient-centered care under the supervision of a registered nurse in our acute care setting. You will support the nursing team on the assigned unit and contribute to Service Excellence in every patient interaction.

Ideal candidates have a High School diploma or GED (preferred), and relevant CNA/MA/PCT certificates or current enrollment in a nursing program, plus BLS. Must be 18+ and pass pre-employment assessments.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• Must pass any pre-employment assessments required by the facility.
• CNA certificate and/or CNA program completion certificate and/or PCT certificate.
• Medical Assistant certificate and/or MA program completion certificate.
• Current enrollment in LVN/ADN/BSN program with first semester completed.
• BLS certification on hire and current thereafter.
• Must be 18 years of age or older by hire date.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, patient-centered care under the direction of the registered nurse.
• Participate as an active member of the Nursing Team on the assigned unit/department.
• Support Service Excellence Standards in interactions with all customer groups.

POSITION SUMMARY

Provides safe, competent patient-centered care for patients in accordance with facility policies, standards, and philosophy. The nursing assistant provides care under the direction of the registered nurse. Participates as an active member of the Nursing Team on the assigned unit/department. Supports an organizational culture for Service Excellence and practices the Service Excellence Standards to all customer groups.

REQUIREMENTS

• Prefer experience in an acute care setting.

EDUCATION / LICENSURE

• High School diploma, GED or Higher Education preferred.
• Must successfully pass any pre-employment assessment(s) required by the facility.
• Must possess one of the following:
• CNA certificate and/or a certificate of completion of a CNA program and/or PCT certificate
• Medical Assistant certificate and/or a certificate of a MA program
• Current enrollment in an LVN, ADN or BSN accredited school of nursing with successful completion of first semester at a minimum
• BLS upon hire and remain current thereafter
• Must be > 18 years of age by the date of hire
