Job summary

Henry Ford Health is seeking a part-time Administrative Support role for the Float Pool at St. John Hospital in Detroit. The position covers 24 hours per week with an 8:00 AM–3:30 PM day shift; weekends and holidays rotated.

You will greet patients, handle inquiries, scheduling, and clerical tasks, while supporting patient care teams. Responsibilities include document creation, basic tech assistance, and coordinating with physicians and staff.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
  • Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.
  • Preferred use of administrative skills in a hospital setting.

Responsibilities

  • Greets patients, visitors, and new admissions; answers inquiries and schedules appointments.
  • Answers, screens, and routes telephone calls; performs general clerical duties.
  • Creates various reports and documents as assigned.
  • Assists patients/residents with basic technology and social media.
  • Coordinates communication among patients, families, physicians and healthcare team members.
  • Performs unit safety checks and supports patient needs.
  • May assist with meals, tray distribution, activities, and transport; keeps areas clean and orderly.

Education

Job Description

Location: St. John Hospital


Department:Float Pool


Schedule:24hrs/week; 8hr Day Shift, 7:00am-3:30pm; weekends on rotation; holidays on rotation


Responsibilities:



  • Greets patients, visitors, and new admissions. Answers general inquiries and schedules patients for appointments. Answers, screens, and routes telephone calls.

  • Performs general clerical duties including filing, email correspondence, and mail distribution. Creates various reports and documents as assigned.

  • Helps patients/residents with basic technology and social media.

  • Communicates with patients, families, physicians and other healthcare team members about patient care.

  • Performs unit safety checks. Assists with meeting patient needs and escalates as appropriate.

  • May assist with meals, pass and collect trays, pass out activities, and transport patients/residents through facility.

  • May assist with stocking supplies and keeping unit and patient rooms clean and orderly.

  • May maintain staff schedules and timekeeping as assigned.


Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:



  • High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required. -
