Job summary

Waterview Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare is seeking a Unit Assistant to support meal service, transport residents, and engage with residents in a beautiful Westchester setting.

Excellent communication and a caring demeanor are essential. High school or equivalent required; healthcare experience is a plus. Equal opportunity employer; covid vaccination encouraged but not mandated.

Responsibilities

• Assist with meal service, pass and collect trays, monitor day room and interact with residents.
• Notify nurse/CNA of resident needs or changes in condition.
• Transport residents and set up meals; assist with seating and serving.
• Help residents obtain meals or snacks and open containers.
• Assist with activities and supervise residents in common areas.

Unit Assistant

• Full Time; 35 hours a week
• Every Other Weekend Rotation Required
• Day Shift 7am-3pm & Evening 3-11pm

Waterview Hills Campus is home to Waterview Hills and Salem Hills Rehabilitation & Healthcare: Two facilities committed to providing outstanding Subacute Rehab and Long-Term Skilled Nursing Care. Together, these facilities offer patients the best rehab and nursing care they can obtain.

• Unit Assistant is responsible for assisting with meal service, passing and collecting of trays and monitors day room while engaging with residents, assisting with activities when needed
• Informs the Nurse or CNA of any resident needs (i.e. the need to use the rest room) or of any changes noted in resident’s condition
• Performs resident transport, distributes meal trays and sets up meal in front of the resident assigned by Charge Nurse /Supervisor
• Transport residents to designated dining area for meals and assist seating at appropriate table. Assist with handwashing, distribute beverages, transport residents to designated dining area for meals.
• Assist residents with obtaining meal or snack alternates, opening containers, etc.
• Assist with transport to/from programs back to units to assist activity staff with
• Supervise residents in patio area during nice weather and monitor assigned Community Room and assist residents as needed
• Tidy up resident’s rooms, linen closets, and make bed
• Additional duties may be assigned by nursing administration

• Ability to work well under pressure and be flexible
• Must be a team player and willing to help where/when needed.
• Must have a sincere desire to work with the elderly, chronically ill, and disabled.
• Ability to build rapport with patients/residents
• Compassionate and caring demeanor
• Must demonstrate excellent customer service skills and eagerness to help
• Healthcare industry working experience preferred, not required
• Previous experience with geriatric/short term rehabilitation/Alzheimer’s patients is desirable
