Job summary

Salem Hills Rehab and Healthcare in Westchester County, NY, is seeking a Housekeeping Aide to maintain clean, safe resident areas in a beautiful setting. The role includes cleaning, laundry support, and linen processing for two facilities on one campus.

Applicants should have a high school diploma, be flexible with hours (including weekends/holidays), and able to follow written and verbal instructions. Vaccination is encouraged but not mandated.

Qualifications

• Minimum High School Diploma (or equivalent).
• Housekeeping services experience preferred but not required.
• Must have a working knowledge of housekeeping and laundry techniques.
• Must be flexible with hours and available to work on some weekends and holidays as required.
• Ability to work well under pressure and be flexible.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

Responsibilities

• Carry out duties of Housekeeping and/or Laundry Departments including processing linen and resident clothes.
• Clean and service resident areas, baths, laboratories, corridors and beds.
• Dust and damp surfaces, clean windowsills and dispose waste.
• Scour and polish bathtubs, sinks, mirrors and fixtures.
• Replenish supplies of disinfectants, soaps and towels.
• Polish metal objects and glass panels; keep storage areas orderly.
• Clean and disinfect beds, beds stands, utensils and wheelchairs.
• Vacuum carpets, shampoo upholstery and dust blinds.
• Remove drapery and curtains when needed.
• Clean shower stalls, water fountains and other facilities.

Housekeeping Aide Summary

• The Housekeeping Aide is responsible to carry out the duties of either Housekeeping and/or Laundry Departments which include but are not limited to the processing of all linen, Residents personal clothes and/or cleaning of assigned areas.
• Housekeeping Aide will clean and service resident areas, baths, laboratories, educational facilities, corridors, utility rooms and beds.
• Dust and damp floors, dust furniture and equipment, cleans windowsills, empties wastebaskets, arrange furniture and equipment in an orderly fashion.
• Scours and polishes bathtubs, sinks, mirrors and similar fixtures.
• Replenishes supplies of disinfectants, soaps and towels.
• Polishes any metal objects.
• Clean and polish glass panels in doors and partitions.
• Keep storage areas in good order and arrange supplies.
• Clean and disinfect beds, bed stands, utensils, sterilizers and wheelchairs.
• Empties waste baskets, cleans and relines them.Vacuums carpets, shampoos upholstered furniture, and dusts venetian blinds.
• Remove drapery and cubical curtains when needed.
• Clean shower stalls, baths, water fountains, chute doors, fire extinguishers and stationary ice containers.
