Job summary

NIFCO in La Vergne, Tennessee, is seeking a Machine Operator to support our plastic-part production lines. You will transfer products, supply components to presses, and help maintain continuous manufacturing flow on the floor.

Ideal candidates read English instructions, perform basic math, lift up to 55 lbs, and work well in a team. Industrial experience is preferred but not required; safety training is mandatory for all staff.

Qualifications

• Must complete all safety trainings (LOTO, HAZCOM, Blood Borne Pathogens).
• Must be able to read and understand verbal instructions in English.
• Must be able to do simple math calculations.
• Must be able to lift up to 55lbs. multiple times during shift.
• Must be able to work effectively in a team environment.
• Industrial experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Transfer products and supply components to presses to enable continuous production.
• Change totes on tote elevator, conveyor, and bucket stacker as needed.
• Label totes, respond to alarms, and move WIP/FG parts to correct locations.
• Perform visual inspections for part nonconformity and inform supervisors when found.

Machine Operator

Job Summary: Responsible for transferring products, supplying components and totes to and from presses throughout the production floor to allow continuous production.

Essential Functions

• Safety
  • Adheres to all safety guidelines and expectations (wear required PPE, follow safety protocols, and report any safety incidents, accidents, and near-misses in a timely manner)
  • Familiar with and can locate Safety Data Sheet
  • Understands OSHA’s "Right to Know" Policy
• 5S
  • Follow 5S procedure and guidance
  • Keep work area clean at all times
• Product Quality
  • Good understanding of the NIFCO Quality Policy
  • Identification and handling of non-conforming products
  • Skill and knowledge to read the Part Quality Standard – "PQS"
  • Skill and knowledge to follow the Nifco Packaging Information Form - "NPIF"
  • Perform visual inspection checks for part nonconformity (color, flash, spots, shorts, damage, etc.)
  • Inform Molding Supervisor and/or Process Technicians when nonconformity is found
• Machine Tending
  • Change totes on tote elevator, conveyor, and bucket stacker as needed
  • Correctly label all totes with parts by following standard labeling process
  • Respond to alarms by notifying to Supervisor and/or Process Technician
  • Move WIP/FG parts to correct locations
  • Assemble parts as required (refer to work instructions)
  • Rework parts as required (refer to work instructions)
• Other Duties
  • Ensure the IATF16949 (latest revision) standard related to Manufacturing are followed
  • Other assigned tasks by Molding Supervisor or Production Manager as needed

Education

• Highschool Diploma or GED

Skills/Experience/Requirements

• Must complete all safety and environmental trainings required (e.g.: Lock-out-Tag-out, HAZCOM, Blood Borne Pathogens, Sexual Harassment)
• Must be able to read and understand verbal instructions in English
• Must be able to do simple math calculations

• Industrial experience preferred but not required
• Must be able to communicate with supervision, management, and co-workers
