Job summary

NIFCO America in Shelbyville, Kentucky is hiring for a 2nd shift Tooling Technician/PM Tech Apprentice Toolmaker to repair and maintain injection molds for automotive plastic components. You will perform preventative maintenance, inspect molds, read prints, and assist with mold cleaning and preparation for shipment to vendors.

Qualifications

Must have mold making knowledge or training in machining.
Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of dimensional math.
Able to read and interpret prints.
Experience with mills, lathes, welding, grinding or hand tools preferred.
Must be able to prioritize multiple tasks and work with a team.
Willingness to work flexible hours and overtime.

Responsibilities

Repair and maintain injection molds for automotive plastic components.
Perform preventative maintenance on molds and tooling.
Inspect molds using calipers, micrometers, indicators, and other tools.
Clean and prepare molds for shipment to outside vendors.
Follow tight specifications and read drawings accurately.
Collaborate with team to ensure production needs are met.

Job Summary

Repair and maintain injection molds for automotive plastic components

Essential Functions

Basic understanding of Injection Mold Tooling (Operation, Handling, Etc.)
Basic repair or replacement of broken or damaged components of injection molds with use of hand tools, power tools and shop equipment according to tight specification
Preventative maintenance (PM) on existing molds (Overhaul)
General mold cleaning using resources in the tool shop based on the needs of the specific mold
Tool inspection as needed including measurements using all methods available, marks and writes dimensions and reference points by use of such hand tools as calipers, micrometers, indicators, and comparators
Block and unblock cavities during PM and production settings
Preparation for shipment of molds to outside vendors
General shop cleaning and organizing
All other duties

Education

Must possess a High School Diploma or GED

Experience/Skills/Requirements

Knowledge in mold making or early education in a technical machining program
Proven mechanical aptitude with a general understanding of dimensional mathematics
Must be proficient at reading and interpreting prints
One year experience in using mills, lathes, welding, grinding and basic hand tools preferred
Must be analytical and make sound decisions pertaining to job functions
Must be able to prioritize multiple tasks effectively
Must be cooperative and work well in team environment
Work flexible hours and overtime as needed
Behave in a positive manner that enhances the success of the company
