The role requires extensive Unisys MCP expertise, Libra hardware, and related utilities, plus strong collaboration with IT teams to ensure seamless integration with Windows and Linux environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education/experience in systems configuration and integration.
• Strong understanding of mainframe concepts, tables, bit manipulation, and messaging.
• Experience with Unisys ClearPath Libra hardware and software setup.
• Familiarity with MCP environment utilities and patching process.
• Knowledge of Windows networking, Linux, and cloud concepts is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform high-level system configuration and programming for mainframe environments.
• Install and configure mainframe systems and devices for network and storage connectivity.
• Collaborate with Operations and Technology teams and stakeholders.
• Assist development staff with OS components, file management, performance analysis, and enhancements.

Unisys ClearPath Mainframe Systems Administrator

Charlotte, NC (hybrid -Onsite 3 days/week)

Position Summary:

Support current and future implementations of Unisys ClearPath MCP mainframes and related system software and hardware with a goal of maintaining maximum performance and reliability in the mainframe environment.

Qualifications Required:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or a combination of equivalent education and experience in systems configuration, programming, and integration.

Knowledge of systems programming concepts such as table and bit manipulation, messaging, queuing, database organization and disk I/O.

Experience with Unisys ClearPath Libra mainframe hardware installation and configuration including:

• o System Editor
• o OC Manager
• o Network connectivity
• o Storage network connectivity

Experience with Unisys ClearPath Software Series VM based system installation and configuration

General knowledge of Windows networking and iSCSI concepts

Knowledge of the integration of the Microsoft Windows server, Linux server and Unisys mainframe environments

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Knowledge of Unisys MCP mainframe operating environment and utilities including:

• o DMSII
• o COMS
• o CCF
• o Security Center
• o System Assistant
• o NX/Services
• o OLEDB
• o Secure-Transport

Filing incidents with Unisys support and providing supporting files such as system and program dumps

Ability to interpret program dumps

Extensive knowledge of the use of LOGANALYZER and the various log entries found in the SUMLOG

Knowledge of Unisys software compilation and patching process including:

• o Obtaining and installing Interim Corrections for MCP
• o Obtaining and installing Interim Corrections for system software
• o Compiling system software with local patches

Unisys networking concepts:

• o TCP/IP routing and addressing
• o NX/NET as used in the Libra environment
• o Win RPC

Mainframe storage and SAN setup configuration skills (EMC storage arrays and Cisco MDS switching)

Knowledge of cloud service providers (AWS & Microsoft Azure) and general cloud computing concepts.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Performing highly technical system configuration and programming.
• Installation and configuration of mainframe systems and related devices for network and storage system connectivity
• Work collaboratively with other Operations and Technology teams, users, and product stakeholders
• Serve as an internal consultant to systems development staff for information on components of the operating system including file management routines, system performance analysis and software enhancements
• Develop utility software to perform system or application related automation tasks Additional functions and responsibilities:
• Programs and supports mainframe related PC server and desktop scripting
• Supports PC server and desktop configuration of applications that interface with mainframes

Physical demands and work environment:

Work is generally sedentary in nature.

The working environment is generally favorable. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available.
