Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Design, operate, and maintain enterprise servers including mainframes.
• Research and implement complex infrastructure solutions for internal needs.
• Design secure virtualized environments with VMs, networks, and storage.
• Develop or use monitoring tools to ensure secure, efficient operation.
• Monitor CPU, memory, storage and network usage to optimize resources.
• Plan capacity and advise on future blueprints with EA teams.
• Install and support ISV products and work with vendors on issues.
• Code in Assembler for system modifications and JES exits.
• Debug z/OS software problems and support USS/WebSphere.
• Interface with IBM support via ServiceLink; proficiency in Assembler, REXX, CLIST and SAS.
• Knowledge of RACF and RACF profiling.
• Provide system-programming support for mainframe installations and upgrades.
• Provide off-hours DR planning/testing support.
• Handle trouble tickets at levels 1–3 for customers.

Job description

Stefanini is looking for a Mainframe Programmer, Dearborn, MI (Onsite)

Note: C2C/C2H will not work on this role.

You will be responsible for building and operating IT hardware and software resources in on-prem, cloud or hybrid scenarios in support of internal customer needs. You will be responsible for a wide variety of activities that operationalize cross functional teams such as capacity planning and resource optimization solutions for one-off and long-term workloads, planning, configuring and maintaining servers (including mainframes), creating virtualized environments, providing analytics services, installing and maintaining specialized tools, etc.

Responsibilities

• Involved in the design, operation, and maintenance of enterprise servers, including specialty mainframe systems like IBM/LPARS, high performance super computing systems, and general-purpose hybrid and cloud systems, for optimal end-user business operations.
• Research, design, implement and maintain complex infrastructure solutions for internal customer needs such as specialty software, data warehouses, identity access management, event frameworks, containerization and on demand scaling, etc.
• Design and configure secure virtualized environments aligned with enterprise architecture blueprints consisting of virtual machines, virtual networks, high speed and distributed storage systems (SAN, HDFS, SSD, etc.).
• Utilize existing tools or assist in engineering custom monitoring solutions to ensure systems are configured correctly, run efficiently and remain secure against potential threats.
• Monitor and review resources like CPU, memory, storage, and network traffic to ensure effective utilization aligned with expected parameters and to safeguard against runaway costs.
• Resolve bottlenecks and plan for future capacity needs based on resource usage trends. Advise enterprise architecture teams on usage trends to incorporate into future blueprints.
• Install, customize, test, implement, document, and support independent software vendor (ISV) products as required (this includes user modifications that require customization for release levels or related to site requirements) and work with the vendors on problems and resolution.
• Code in Assembler to develop, test, implement, document and support system modifications and MVS and JES exits.
• Analyze, debug and correct various z/OS software problems.
• Support z/OS Unix System Services (USS) and WebSphere environments.
• Use IBM's ServiceLink and interface with IBM technical support to resolve Operating System (z/OS) software and hardware problems. Proficient in Assembler, REXX, Clist and SAS coding (highly desired).
• Knowledge of RACF and ability to create and analyze RACF profiles.
• Provide system-programming support for the installation and upgrade of mainframe hardware configurations.
• Provide off hours support for Disaster Recovery planning and testing.
• Provide customer support by addressing Software/Hardware related trouble tickets providing levels 1, 2 and 3 support.

Experience Required

• 10+ years of experience in IT and 8+ years of experience in Development.
• Mainframe Systems.

Experience Preferred

• 8 or more years of System Programming experience, including dump analysis, SMP/E, SMF, USS, Omegamon, MVS and JES exits, problem analysis and resolution.
• Working knowledge of z/Operating System internals in JES2 or JES3 environments.
• Experience in planning, customizing, testing and on-going support of Independent Software Vendor (ISV) products (i.e. CA Technologies, BMC, SAS, IBM, etc.)
• Knowledge and experience in corporate and group security and control policies, procedures, and standards. Experience supporting Disaster Recovery for z/OS environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, highly motivated, and possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Experience with Access, PowerPoint and Microsoft Project for project administration are highly desirable.
• Working knowledge of ISPF, TSO, JCL and IBM utilities is essential.
