Job summary

The Oregon Nurses Association (ONA) is seeking an Internal Labor Representative in the Eugene/Springfield area to coordinate bargaining unit development, training, and member engagement. You will lead campaigns, support worksite committees, negotiate contracts, and handle grievances while promoting equity and strong labor relations.

A bachelor’s degree and several years of organizing experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required; minimum three years as a union organizer, community or political organizer, or internal organizer/business agent.
• Healthcare experience encouraged to apply.
• Knowledge of labor law such as NLRA, PECBA, FMLA, ADA, OSHA, workers' comp.
• Familiarity with Nurse Practice Act, HIPAA, Oregon staffing law; healthcare culture.
• Ability to facilitate group discussions and individual conversations.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and delegate as needed.
• Cultivate relationships with prospective members and collaborate with staff.

Responsibilities

• Develop and train leaders to run worksite campaigns and serve as stewards.
• Support worksite committees; participate when necessary.
• Develop strategic plans for bargaining units and keep them up-to-date.
• Conduct annual assessments of bargaining units using standard templates.
• Promote union membership and accrete unrepresented employees.
• Create and maintain lists to track membership and campaigns.
• Ensure timely bargaining unit elections and adherence to bylaws.
• Identify and mentor statewide leadership for the ONA Board, Cabinets, and House of Delegates.
