Job summary

Related Affordable is seeking a Maintenance Technician (Local 808 union) to keep our buildings safe, functional, and inviting in New York. You will handle plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry tasks, while interacting with residents and ensuring timely service requests are completed.

The role includes on-call rotation, weekend shifts when needed, and opportunities to mentor junior staff. A strong commitment to quality and safety is required.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in general maintenance or related field.
• Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, and electrical systems.
• Must join Local 808 union.
• Willing to work weekends and flexible shifts.
• Must participate in on-call rotation.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Bilingual Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Complete service requests and interact with residents.
• Prepare vacant units to occupancy standards.
• Inspect mechanical systems and address safety issues.
• Perform plumbing, electrical, and carpentry repairs.
• Clean and maintain common areas and grounds.
• Train and mentor junior maintenance staff.
• Inspect property and address maintenance concerns.
• Assist in emergency repairs and rotate on-call.
• Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies.
• Other duties as assigned.
