Job summary

SSA Marine is seeking an Operations Labor Manager to direct and coordinate union labor, ensuring safe, efficient, compliant, and cost-effective operations. The role exercises independent judgment over labor personnel and operations, with accountability for safety, productivity, and labor relations.

Based in Tacoma, travel to other SSA Marine operations is required. Responsibilities include workforce planning, equipment deployment, safety compliance, and reporting.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years managing union labor in a comparable environment.
• Valid Driver's License and ability to obtain and maintain a TWIC card.
• Current CPR certification.
• Working knowledge of terminal operations, cargo stowage and stability, and local union dispatching rules.
• Demonstrated leadership experience.
• Familiarity with computerized terminal operating systems.
• Knowledge of applicable safety and accident-prevention codes and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Directs and allocates the work of foremen and other operational personnel based on requirements.
• Maintains knowledge of CBAs and enforces them in day-to-day operations.
• Assists safety, security, and compliance, including reporting incidents.
• Coordinates labor and equipment deployment to meet targets and vessel turnaround.
• Serves as primary coordination point among vessel personnel, customers, and terminal staff.
• Completes required shift reports including payroll and safety documentation.
