Job summary

Active Construction Inc is seeking a Union Operating Engineer to operate and maintain heavy construction equipment on outdoor sites across Tacoma and surrounding areas. The role involves operating cranes, bulldozers, excavators, graders, and related machinery while ensuring safe and efficient project execution.

You will read and interpret blueprints, perform minor repairs, and coordinate with laborers, engineers, and project managers to meet schedules and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Experience operating heavy equipment on construction sites.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and site plans.
• Knowledge of safety standards and OSHA compliance.
• Strong mechanical skills for minor repairs and maintenance.
• Physical stamina to work long hours in varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy machinery such as cranes, bulldozers, graders, pavers, forklifts, and excavators.
• Inspect, maintain, and perform minor repairs on equipment to ensure proper functioning.
• Assist in grading, excavation, and other site preparation tasks.
• Follow OSHA regulations and safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
• Interpret construction plans, grade stakes, and survey marks to complete tasks accurately.
• Collaborate with other construction professionals to complete projects efficiently.
