Qualifications

  • Fully certified as a security officer in positional jurisdiction, authorized to carry all less lethal protective equipment
  • Law enforcement or military experience strongly preferred
  • CPR/AED, First Aid certifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid state-issued driver's license
  • Able to pass pre-employment and random drug tests
  • Reliable transportation
  • Physical fit, able to stand for extended periods, standard hearing, and eyesight
  • Ability to work in evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Strong observational and communication skills (oral and written)
  • Demonstrated experience in report writing, with attention to details
  • Background where situational decision-making was a primary and frequently used requirement
  • Familiarity with emergency response procedures

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to Use of Force Continuum when assessing the use of physical force
  • Perform receipt checks at all stores where assigned
  • Perform randomized and proactive patrols of the interior and exterior of client building, including parking lots, ingress & egress areas, and key interior locations
  • Maintain primary and highly visible positioning near store entrances
  • Uniform and equipment must be properly worn, to include body armor, large radio, body worn camera, audio capture device, duty belt, handcuffs, flashlight, baton, taser, pepper spray and panic alarm
  • All required training and certifications shall be maintained by the provider
  • When safely possible de-escalation shall be used as a first option in all situations to deter theft or criminal activity
  • Prevent unauthorized access to protected, non-public and/or high-value areas
  • Respond to requests from Kroger store management or associates, as well as the public
  • Monitor signaling devices to detect possible criminal activity
  • Complete investigative and incident reports before shift ends
  • Work closely and coordinate/cooperate with local law enforcement agencies and investigations
  • Contact 911 or emergency services if criminal activity is detected Document verifiable product loss
  • Capture perpetrator identification, both photographically, in video format, via audio capture, or legally obtained testimony
  • Assist Kroger associates and customers with escorts and other protective measures
  • Maintain restraint when engaging a perpetrator and only use physical force when the threat of violence presents a clear risk to life and/or safety, at which time protective activity can be undertaken
