Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a seasoned underwriting team lead in Colorado to manage a team of underwriting staff, oversee daily operations, and ensure timely quotes and issuance of new and renewal business.

You will drive performance, mentor staff, participate in recruitment, and ensure strict adherence to underwriting policies, guidelines, and regulatory requirements while coordinating with IT and compliance teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education and experience.
• 3+ years of Commercial Underwriting Experience.
• 2+ years of supervisory or team-lead experience preferred; mentoring considered.
• CPCU or working toward certification preferred; agribusiness experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee a team of underwriting staff including technical and support staff.
• Oversee day-to-day underwriting group activities and operations.
• Ensure timely processing, quoting, and issuance of new and renewal business.
• Participate in personnel actions, performance management, and reviews.
• Train new employees and participate in recruitment.
• Recommend improvements to underwriting policies, processes, guidelines, and practices.
• Provide organizational underwriting and rating services.
• Ensure compliance with underwriting processes, guidelines, policies, standards, supervisory practices, laws, and regulations.
• Act as primary underwriter for an assigned territory and/or book of business.
• Communicate operational issues and monitor team goals and initiatives.
• Liaise with IT, Compliance, and other departments to resolve processing and compliance issues.

Requirements

• 2 or more years of previous Supervisory and/or Team Lead experience preferred; Formal mentoring experience may be considered
• CPCU or actively working towards completion preferred
• Agribusiness experience a plus
