Job summary

Arch Insurance Group Inc. is seeking an experienced professional to underwrite and manage a portfolio of Umbrella & Excess Liability accounts, driving profitability and growth. The selected candidate can sit in Alpharetta, GA, Dallas, or Houston, TX. The position requires deep technical expertise, robust policy management, and cross-regional collaboration

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of underwriting profitable Umbrella & Excess Liability.
  • Specialized knowledge of Umbrella and Excess Liability.
  • Strong broker relationships and marketplace presence.
  • Experience in a complex, global matrix organization.
  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, Insurance Mgmt, or Business Administration preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Grow and maintain profitability of brokers within the Territory.
  • Own accounts with negotiation of participation, pricing and terms.
  • Develop relationships with brokers and clients.
  • Provide specialized technical leadership for Umbrella & Excess Liability.
  • Manage broker portfolio to achieve profitability growth.
  • Utilize global pricing tools.
  • Ensure policy documentation is issued to producers or producers have issued documentation.
  • File maintenance for each risk and transaction handled.
  • Manage complex referrals and re-underwrite complex business as appropriate.
  • Collaborate cross-region with Middle Market Package, Excess Construction, Excess National Accounts.

Position Summary

This position requires an experienced professional to underwrite and manage a portfolio of Umbrella & Excess Liability accounts to drive profitability and growth. The role involves assessing risks, negotiating pricing, and ensuring contract certainty while maintaining strong relationships with brokers, clients, and other stakeholders. The selected candidate can sit in Alpharetta, GA, Dallas, or Houston, TX.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities
  • Responsible for growth and profitability of the Brokers within the Territory
  • Ownership of accounts including negotiation of participation, pricing and terms and conditions
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers and clients
  • Specialized technical expertise / lead for Unsupported Umbrella & Excess Liability
  • Manage assigned broker portfolio of accounts to achieve efficient returns of profitability and growth
  • Ensure utilization of global pricing tools
  • Ensure accurate policy documentation issued to producers or producers have issued documentation (where producer responsibility)
  • File maintenance – ensure file is established (whether electronic or paper) and maintained for each risk and transaction handled
  • Manage complex referrals from underwriters and re-underwrite complex business as appropriate
  • Participate in cross regional activities as required / requested including and not limited to cross collaboration with Middle Market Package, Excess Construction, Excess National Accounts
Required Skills and Abilities
  • Risk Assessment and Management: Ability to assess risk inherent exposures and natural hazards relevant to Umbrella & Excess Liability.
  • Pricing and Market Management: Analyze current performance against benchmarks applying how the market operates and functions, the business needs and customer needs
  • Contract Drafting and Interpretation: Design, develop and implement consistent, robust wordings
  • Policy Management: Robust understanding of policy administration life cycle, information collection, policy issuance, premium bookings, credit control, cancellation.
  • Communication skills: Clearly and effectively express ideas and messages via speech or writing with both internal and external stakeholders. Ability to "sell" an improvised or prepared audience winning story. Possesses strong negotiation skills.
  • Influencing skills: Ability to persuade and motivate others to act, without executive authority
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to effectively absorb information from various sources, then analyze, study or examine data in detail, and draw appropriate conclusions.
Education and Experience
  • 4+ years of experience in Underwriting profitable business in Umbrella & Excess.
  • Specialized expert understanding of Umbrella and Excess Liability
  • Recognized relationships with brokers at peer group level and well established within marketplace
  • Experience working in complex, global matrix organization
  • Preferably degree in Economics, Finance, Insurance Mgmt, or Business Administration
