Job summary

Zurich North America is offering an Underwriting Intern position for Summer 2027. You will work under experienced underwriting professionals, supporting financial reporting, reporting analytics, pipeline management, and client meetings.

You will learn underwriting fundamentals, gain hands-on experience, and contribute to risk management strategies while collaborating with mentors and leaders in the insurance industry.

Qualifications

• Actively pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Risk Management, Finance, Economics, Business or related field.
• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s program and will be enrolled in Fall 2027.
• Two or more years of college coursework (rising Junior or Senior).
• Be legally eligible to work in the U.S. indefinitely.

Responsibilities

• Learn underwriting fundamentals through mentorship and hands-on training.
• Support business unit financial reporting and analysis.
• Assist with preparing financial and operational reports using underwriting and business intelligence tools.
• Support pipeline management and underwriting operations activities.
• Participate in client, broker, and stakeholder meetings.
• Review loss summaries and assist with account analysis.
• Gain exposure to customer, broker, and partner relationships within the insurance industry.

The Role:

As an Underwriting Intern at Zurich, you will be an integral part of our Underwriting organization. Under the guidance of experienced underwriting professionals and mentors, you will contribute to real projects and tasks that support business growth, customer relationships, and risk management strategies.

Depending on the specific internship placement, this position will allow you to:

• Learn underwriting fundamentals through mentorship and hands-on training


• Support business unit financial reporting and analysis


• Assist with preparing financial and operational reports using underwriting and business intelligence tools


• Support pipeline management and underwriting operations activities


• Participate in client, broker, and stakeholder meetings


• Review loss summaries and assist with account analysis


• Gain exposure to customer, broker, and partner relationships within the insurance industry

Basic Qualifications:

• Actively pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree inRisk Management, Finance, Economics, Businessor related field


• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program and will be enrolled in the Fall of 2027


• Two or more years of college coursework (should be a rising Junior or Senior)


• Be legally eligible to work in the U.S indefinitely

Preferred Qualifications:

• Cumulative GPA at/above 3.0 on a 4.0 scale


• Problem solving skills in customer focused environment


• Strong verbal and written communication skills


• Analytical and critical thinking abilities


• Experience in leadership roles, campus organizations, or extracurricular activities

Your pay at Zurich is based on your role, location, skills, and experience. We follow local laws to ensure fair compensation. You may also be eligible for bonuses and merit increases. If your expectations are above the listed range, we still encourage you to apply-your unique background matters to us.

The pay range shown is a national average and may vary by location. For this position, the houlry range is $21.00 - $23.00.
