Job summary

Selective Insurance invites college students planning to intern during the summer of 2027 to join our Ignite Internship program at our corporate office in Short Hills, NJ.

The 11-week, full-time experience offers hands-on underwriting exposure in the Corporate Underwriting department, with cross-functional projects, leadership access, and a chance to build professional relationships across the organization. This hybrid role requires commuting distance to Branchville/Short Hills, NJ.

Qualifications

• Must be a current college student to qualify.
• Demonstrate an interest in learning about the insurance industry.
• Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
• Experience with Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Internet Explorer.
• College credit can be earned depending on your institution’s requirements.

Responsibilities

• Participate in engaging projects and assignments that support our SBU’s with focus on specific industry groups.
• Research, analyze and recommend a course of action for those projects which may involve the possible expansion of our customer base and/or cutting-edge product offerings to meet today’s challenges.
• Use analytical, marketing, and presentation skills to provide detailed analysis, research, and evaluation of available underwriting information and product offerings for projects that support both the SBU’s and our regional field offices.
