Job summary

Ameritas in Lincoln, Nebraska seeks an Underwriting Intern to support the Group Business Development Underwriting team. You will learn dental and vision rating, assist with RFP evaluations, and participate in issuance and renewal workflows under supervision.

This internship will begin in May 2027, and is a hybrid role with in-office and remote work. You will gain exposure to underwriting techniques and collaborate with underwriting and sales support colleagues.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate student majoring in Economics, Mathematics, Finance, Actuarial or Business.
• Able to commit to a 1-year internship working part-time during the school year and full-time during the summer.
• Intermediate computer skills including familiarity with Microsoft Office.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Flexible and adaptable when faced with challenges.
• Ability to apply sales-oriented thinking to present creative solutions.
• Time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Learn dental and vision rating and risk evaluation process.
• Evaluate new Request for Proposals (RFPs).
• Support in approving new cases along with issuance/installation process.
• Assist with reporting or renewal processes while adhering to underwriting risk principals.
• Perform tasks in support of assigned projects and work.
