Selective Insurance welcomes you to the Ignite Internship program at our Short Hills, NJ corporate office. This 11-week, full-time internship offers hands-on exposure to corporate underwriting, with emphasis on Community & Public Services, Contractors, Mercantile & Manufacturing lines, and multiple LOBs.

As an Underwriting Intern, you will support the corporate underwriting department's growth and profitability goals, develop business acumen, and gain practical experience through assignments,

Qualifications

• Must be a current college student to qualify.
• Demonstrate an interest in learning about the insurance industry.
• Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
• Experience with Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Internet Explorer.
• College credit can be earned depending on your institution's requirements.

Responsibilities

• Participate in engaging projects and assignments that support our SBU's with focus on specific industry groups.
• Research, analyze and recommend a course of action for those projects which may involve the possible expansion of our customer base and/or cutting-edge product offerings to meet today's challenges.
• Use analytical, marketing, and presentation skills to provide detailed analysis, research, and evaluation of available underwriting information and product offerings for projects that support both the SBU's and our regional field offices.
