Job summary

Burns & Wilcox, the flagship organization of H.W. Kaufman Group, offers a 12-week summer internship in the specialty insurance field. This paid program develops business acumen, communication, and leadership through hands-on experiences across departments.

The Underwriting Intern will work 40 hours/week on-site, rotating among commercial, personal, or professional lines teams, and will participate in renewals, agent calls, and senior leadership projects.

Qualifications

• Enrolled as an undergraduate pursuing a degree in Risk Management and Insurance (strongly preferred), Business, Finance, or another relevant field
• Expected graduation in December 2027 or May 2028
• Previous internship experience is preferred
• Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

Responsibilities

• Participate in agent marketing calls and attend client meetings
• Engage in insurance policy renewals
• Update new business and renewals in Microsoft Excel
• Determine which program or market best meets the needs of agency clients
• Communicating loss notices and policy changes
• Work alongside senior leaders on special projects
