Job summary

Burns & Wilcox, the flagship organization of the H.W. Kaufman Group, offers a 12-week summer internship program in the specialty insurance industry. This paid internship develops business acumen, communication, and leadership through hands-on experience across underwriting teams.

Interns work on-site for 40 hours per week, participate in agent calls, client meetings, renewals, and special projects, with exposure to executive leadership and multiple departments.

Qualifications

• Enrolled undergraduate pursuing Risk Management and Insurance or related field.
• Expected graduation Dec 2027 or May 2028.
• Previous internship experience is preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Participate in agent marketing calls and attend client meetings.
• Engage in insurance policy renewals.
• Update new business and renewals in Microsoft Excel.
• Determine which program or market best meets the needs of agency clients.
• Communicating loss notices and policy changes.
• Work alongside senior leaders on special projects.
