The Underwriting Audit Consulting Director is responsible for conducting underwriting audit work for National Accounts Property and identifying opportunities for operational or training improvement. This role involves analyzing written business relative to risk appetite, pricing, coverage, underwriting authority, and compliance with the objective of driving continuous improvement in both underwriting and audit alike. The director will collaborate with Underwriting Shared Services and Underwriting leadership to execute other audit-related projects and mentor less experienced auditors. This position requires in-depth technical knowledge of underwriting theories and practices across all Property related coverage and program structures (Ground Up, Shared & Layered, Wholesale/Surplus Lines, etc.), as well as a proven track record of success.JOB DESCRIPTION:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines:
Conducts underwriting auditsfor assigned business units, analyzing quality in the areas of risk selection, pricing, coverage, internal compliance, and external compliance for both new and renewal business
Identifies opportunities for operational or training improvement for the underwriting and audit processes
Collaborates with Underwriting Shared Services and Underwriting leadership to execute audit-related projects and bring them to successful and timely conclusion, ensuring compliance with project requirements and all governance/control processes
Drives quality assurancein all aspects of underwriting by collaborating with Business Unit Leaders and Liaisons throughout the underwriting audit lifecycle
Develops responses and necessary action planson all audit findings in collaboration with Business Unit Liaisons
Evaluates underwriting guides and processesin collaboration with Compliance/Internal Audit and Global Product Teams to maintain effectiveness and efficiency Participates in the review and implementation of all audit procedures and toolsto ensure they remain effective
Collaborates with Underwriting Shared Servicescolleagues on workflow improvements and operational efficiency initiatives as needed
Mentors and trains less experienced auditors, providing technical underwriting and general audit coaching as well as sharing audit management expertise
May perform additional duties as assigned.
Reporting Relationship
Typically reports to an Audit Director or above.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
Education & Experience
1. Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Professional designations preferred.
2. Typically, a minimum of ten years underwriting experience with proven track record of results.
4. Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) or Registered Professional LiabilityUnderwriter (RPLU) preferred.

In certain jurisdictions, CNA is legally required to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role. In District of Columbia,California, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York and Washington, the national base pay range for this job level is $97,000 to $189,000 annually.Salary determinations are based on various factors, including but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location.
