Job summary

Progressive is seeking an Associate Manager in Fleet & Specialty Underwriting to lead a workers’ compensation underwriting team for the transportation industry. You will guide risk selection, pricing, and portfolio management for guaranteed cost and loss-sensitive accounts.

You’ll manage underwriting profitability across states, coach staff, and drive continuous improvement in a collaborative culture within a large Commercial Auto portfolio.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years underwriting experience with workers’ compensation.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher paired with 5+ years underwriting experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day operations of the workers’ compensation underwriting team in the transportation sector.
• Underwrite and manage a large Commercial Auto book while ensuring profitability.
• Provide ongoing coaching and training to team members for continuous improvement.

The Associate Manager, Progressive’s Fleet & Specialty Underwriting is responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of a workers’ compensation underwriting team focused on the transportation industry. This role requires prior experience underwriting both guaranteed cost and loss sensitive workers’ compensation accounts, and candidates should bring a strong understanding of risk selection, pricing, and portfolio management within these products.

As an associate underwriting manager, you’ll manage a team of underwriters while effectively underwriting and managing a large book of Commercial Auto accounts. You’ll be responsible for the profitability and development within assigned states and regions. Additionally, you’ll handle ongoing coaching and training within your team and ensure a culture of continuous improvement and personal employee growth.

Minimum qualifications

• High school diploma/GED equivalent or higher and a minimum of eight years of underwriting experience
• {OR} Bachelor's degree or higher and a minimum of five years of underwriting experience

Preferred Skills/Experience

• 3+ years of experience with guaranteed cost and loss sensitive workers’ compensation accounts.
• 4+ years of experience leading at an insurance carrier or agency

Compensation

• $89,600 - $119,500/year
• Gainshare annual cash incentive payment up to 30% of your eligible earnings based on company performance
