Job summary

Progressive seeks an insurance defense attorney to join the Bodily Injury litigation team. You will represent Progressive insureds and the company before courts and arbitration panels, handling cases from start to finish and preparing pleadings, motions, and trial briefs.

You’ll negotiate settlements and closely coordinate with clients and claims partners on litigation reports. This hybrid position requires Virginia bar admission and at least two years of general or auto litigation experience,

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor or Master of Laws (LLM) and a minimum of 2 years general/auto litigation experience.
• Admitted to practice law in the state of Virginia.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal representation to Progressive insureds and Progressive Insurance Companies in all aspects of litigation.
• Handle cases from start to finish and prepare pleadings, motions, statements, and trial briefs.
• Negotiate settlements and work with clients and claims partners to prepare timely litigation reports.

As aninsurance defense attorneywithin our Bodily Injury litigation team, you’ll be a part of our motor vehicle insurance defense litigation team, providing legal representation to Progressive insureds and/or to the Progressive Insurance Companies before courts and arbitration panels in all aspects of litigation. Handling cases from beginning to end, you’ll also prepare legal pleadings, motions, statements, trial briefs and be involved in negotiating settlements. Additionally, you’ll work closely with clients and claims partners to prepare timely reports on litigation, ensuring all appropriate defenses are leveraged to reach positive outcomes. Other tasks will include analyzing written discovery, depositions, medical records and assessing the value of claims to determine risk exposure.

This is a hybrid position with occasional travel to an office for meetings and/or training.

Minimum qualifications

• Juris doctor degree or Master of Laws (LLM) and a minimum of 2 years general/auto litigation experience
• Admitted to practice law in the state of Virginia

Compensation

• $133,679 - $164,800/year
• Gainshare annual cash incentive payment up to 40% of your eligible earnings based on company performance
• Bonus of $10,000 payable after 90 calendar days of actively being employed at Progressive
