As an Underwriting Consultant in the PBM or PBM consulting industry, you will play a critical role in shaping the financial architecture behind client proposals, renewals, and innovative pharmacy solutions.

You will work with actuaries, clinical experts, sales leaders, and consultants to build competitive pricing models and forecast performance trends that help our clients make informed, impactful decisions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead pricing strategy and development for pharmacy benefit proposals, renewals, and RFP responses using claims data, utilization trends, and risk modeling.
• Analyze and interpret pharmacy utilization and cost data to project future trends, model alternative plan designs, and assess financial impact.
• Develop underwriting tools and models that support dynamic pricing strategies for self-insured employers, health plans, coalitions, and other PBM clients.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with sales, clinical operations, actuarial, and finance teams to align underwriting assumptions with product and market strategies.
• Present and explain financial terms and underwriting assumptions to internal stakeholders, consultants, and clients in a clear and confident manner.
• Support contract modeling including rebate guarantees, formulary changes, and trend management programs.
• Monitor market competitiveness and benchmark pricing methodologies to ensure sustainability and growth in an evolving PBM landscape.

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Actuarial Science, Data Analytics, Healthcare Administration, or related field. MBA or ASA designation preferred.
• 3+ years of experience in underwriting, actuarial analysis, or healthcare analytics—preferably in PBM, pharmacy consulting, or health insurance.
• Deep understanding of pharmacy claims data, rebate structures, formulary dynamics, and benefit design impact.
• Proficiency in Excel, SQL, and actuarial tools or pricing models; familiarity with Tableau, Power BI, or similar tools a plus.
• Strong critical thinking skills with a sharp eye for risk, opportunity, and financial impact.
• Excellent communication skills—you can turn complex analytics into clear, compelling business insights.
