Job description

Results and profit oriented underwriting in domestic E&S Property market with strong emphasis on Nat Cat exposures sourced from wholesale brokers nationally.

About the Role :

• Discusses & negotiates individual deals with clients and brokers.
• Analyses and assesses technical insurability regarding exposures and coverage on new offer and renewal submissions
• Prepares quotations, structures programs, and offers proposals in accordance with guidelines
• Uses SR tools and systems for the development of terms and conditions
• Enters and maintains risk information into the various information systems and administers the accounts
• Establishes and maintains specific industry sector know-how
• Coaching of less experienced staff.
• Strong business and client focus with proven business impact
• Diverse industry experience a plus
• Represents Swiss Re in meetings with clients, brokers, and other Swiss Re Group entities
• Regular contact with brokers and clients which require competent technical know-how, negotiation- and language skills, initiative and service orientation
• Works effectively within client teams

The position may be flexible for US work location depending on the applicant's experience and qualifications. For Employees located in one of our Swiss Re offices, the company has a hybrid work model where the expectation is that you will be in the office three days per week.

About You :

• In depth Industry knowledge of the Property E&S market
• Minimum 3 to 5 years underwriter experience or equivalent for Underwriter level; 7 to 10 years for Senior Underwriter
• Negotiating skills in placement of E&S Property placements
• Knowledge and proficiency in the use of underwriting tools, applications, and guidelines
• Keeps abreast of market environment and trends
• Excellent marketing and communication skills
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Comfortable providing quick responses and managing fluctuating workload
• Willingness to expend extra efforts to cover peak workloads
• Recognized in peer group as a leading Production Underwriter.
• Demonstrated ability to independently make and support underwriting decisions, while keeping in mind the impact of individual deal decisions on the shape of a portfolio

The estimated base salary range for this position is $108,000 to $174,000. The specific salary offered for this or any given role will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to job location, scope of role, qualifications, complexity / specialization / scarcity of talent, experience, education, and employer budget. This means that we consider all components of compensation in their totality (such as base pay, short-and long-term incentives, and benefits offered), in setting individual compensation.
