Job summary

Gallagher is hiring an underwriter in San Diego to assess property and casualty applications, applying guidelines for standard or substandard policies. The role requires a Bachelor's degree and 2 years of experience, plus strong analytical and communication skills.

You will interact with field teams to gather info and defend underwriting decisions, with no production goals and opportunities to support senior underwriters in servicing and account management.

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows applications and Microsoft Office.
• Detail oriented; strong analytical skills and good communication and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

• Underwrites individual insurance applications to cover property and casualty with guidelines set for the issuance of policies on a standard or substandard basis.
• Determines whether to accept, modify or decline a risk through evaluation of the property's value, location, usage, and safety features, and other information pertinent to the decision.
• Has frequent contact with field to gather information on which to base and defend underwriting decisions.
• Does not have any assigned Production goals.
• May provide support to Underwriter Senior in servicing and management of accounts.
