Job summary

Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. is seeking an underwriting professional to assess property and casualty applications against guidelines, determine risk acceptability, and communicate findings with field teams. The role supports senior underwriters and contributes to accurate risk selection.

The ideal candidate holds a bachelor's degree with at least two years of underwriting experience, demonstrating attention to detail, analytical rigor, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 2 years related underwriting experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office.
• Detail oriented with strong analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Underwrites individual insurance applications to cover property and casualty with guidelines set for the issuance of policies on a standard or substandard basis.
• Determines whether to accept, modify or decline a risk through evaluation of the property's value, location, usage, and safety features, and other information pertinent to the decision.
• Has frequent contact with field to gather information on which to base and defend underwriting decisions.
• Does not have any assigned Production goals.
• May provide support to Underwriter Senior in servicing and management of accounts.
