Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin's Applied Research Laboratories seeks a Robotics and Mechanical Design Engineering Scientist to design, test, and document production and R&D equipment for underwater systems on the Pickle Research Campus.

You will work with SolidWorks and SolidWorks Simulation to develop sonar and navigation gear, create drawings, support assembly and field testing, and manage data and documentation. US citizenship required for security clearances; immediate start.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• Three years of related/applied research and development experience.
• Demonstrated ability to design, evaluate, and document complex systems using CAD programs.
• Applicant must have a robotics background.
• Applicant must follow design and testing standards.

Responsibilities

• Design, analyze and develop sonar/navigation/underwater robotics equipment using SolidWorks and SolidWorks Simulation.
• Create drawings, assembly instructions, and other supporting documentation for systems.
• Assist in the assembly and testing of equipment.
• Participate in data collection exercises, data management, and analysis.
• Support the installation and testing of equipment in field locations.
• Other related functions as needed.
