Job summary

The Applied Research Laboratory at Penn State University is seeking an Undersea System Analyst to join the Operations Research and Systems Analysis Department. You will work with Navy engineers and scientists to develop models, run simulations, and analyze results for naval operations and systems concepts.

You will communicate findings to investigators and sponsors, contribute to white papers, and potentially lead small tasks in multi-disciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of computing languages/frameworks for scientific/engineering analysis (C++, MATLAB, Simulink, R, Python)
• Creative problem solving and analytical thinking
• Ability to synthesize information from diverse scientific/mathematical fields
• Strong written and verbal communication, audience-focused

Responsibilities

• Aggregate subject matter expertise with Navy engineers, scientists, and mathematicians
• Plan analyses, build models, run simulations, and interpret results
• Assess future or current naval operations and systems concepts
• Present results clearly to lab stakeholders and sponsors (DoD/IC)
• Lead small tasks and contribute to larger studies
