Job summary

Paycom - ATS in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Locate Technician to accurately identify and mark underground utilities, supporting safe excavation and construction activities. You will conduct site surveys, interpret maps, and communicate findings to field teams, while maintaining detailed records and complying with safety standards.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent (associate degree preferred) and 1–2 years of utility locating experience, with GPS and electronic locating

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree in a related field preferred.
• 1–2 years of utility locating or related experience.
• Experience with maps/blueprints; GPS technology and electronic locating equipment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct site surveys to identify and mark underground utilities.
• Interpret maps and blueprints to locate utilities.
• Communicate location information to construction teams clearly and accurately.
• Maintain detailed records of markings and surveys for regulatory compliance.
• Adhere to safety protocols to prevent accidents during excavation.
• Stay updated on industry standards and regulatory changes.
• Provide training to junior technicians as needed.
• Respond to emergency locate requests to support urgent excavation needs.
