Job summary

Paycom - ATS in Jacksonville, NC is seeking a Locate Technician to identify and mark underground utilities to support safe excavation. Responsibilities include site surveys, reading maps/blueprints, and coordinating with construction teams.

Candidates need a high school diploma (associate preferred), 1–2 years experience, experience with electronic locating equipment and GPS, and a valid driver’s license. Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree is preferred.
• Minimum 1–2 years of utility locating or related field experience.
• Experience with maps and blueprints; track record of locating utilities.
• Experience with electronic locating equipment and GPS technology.

Responsibilities

• Conduct site surveys to identify and mark underground utilities.
• Interpret utility maps and blueprints to locate utilities accurately.
• Communicate with construction teams to provide clear location information.
• Maintain records of markings and surveys for regulatory compliance.
• Follow safety protocols to prevent accidents during excavation.
• Stay updated on industry standards and regulatory changes.
• Provide training to junior technicians as needed.
• Respond promptly to emergency locate requests.
