Job summary

Peoples Gas System is actively seeking a Pipeline Locator in Florida, Sarasota. You will accurately locate and mark underground assets, operate detection equipment, and support the Damage Prevention program to protect gas pipeline facilities from damages.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, and experience with GIS reading and electronic ticket management systems. Safety and teamwork are essential in supporting excavation projects and emergency locate

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
Valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.
1+ year underground utility locating experience (ASME B31Q in lieu).
Ability to learn job-related skills and GIS map reading.
Proficient with computers and electronic ticket management systems.

Responsibilities

Receive and respond to excavation notices, following company policies and state one-call requirements.
Accurately locate and mark underground assets on roadways, private property, and easements using spray paints and flags.
Operate electronic detection equipment to locate and mark pipeline facilities within accuracy limits.
Perform light excavation with hand tools to expose buried utilities when needed.
Provide electronic map updates and facility record corrections to GIS team.
Assist with damaged facility investigations and required documentation.
