Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Valid Florida Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.
• Minimum of 1 year of underground utility locating experience or qualify under ASME B31Q.
• Ability to learn GIS map reading and related skills.
• Proficient with computer use and electronic ticket management systems.
• Competent operating electronic locating equipment.
• Knowledge of state one‑call requirements and underground construction practices.
• Ability to follow complex instructions and communicate clearly in writing and speaking.
• Ability to exercise independent judgement and make decisions affecting operations.
• Willingness to learn excavation best practices and PHMSA/FPSC rules.

Responsibilities

• Receive and respond to excavation notices and locate underground assets using an electronic ticket system.
• Locate and mark underground facilities on roadways, easements, and properties with spray paints and flags.
• Operate locating equipment within prescribed accuracy limits.
• Perform light excavation with hand tools when needed.
• Provide map updates and corrections to GIS teams.
• Assist with damaged facility investigations and documentation.
