Job summary

Peoples Gas is seeking a Pipeline Locator in North Miami to accurately locate and mark underground facilities, supporting public safety and damage prevention efforts in line with Sunshine 811 standards. You will work with the Damage Prevention team, gain exposure to GIS mapping, and operate electronic locating equipment in outdoor environments, with overtime and on-call duties as needed.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, and at least 1 year of locating

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
• Valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.
• Minimum of 1 year of underground utility locating experience or ASME B31Q qualifications.
• Ability to learn job-related skills and GIS map reading.
• Proficiency with computers and electronic ticket management systems.
• Experience operating locating equipment and understanding excavation practices.

Responsibilities

• Receive and respond to excavation notices per policies and 811 requirements.
• Accurately locate and mark underground assets on roadways and properties.
• Operate electronic detection equipment to locate and mark facilities.
• Perform light excavation with hand tools when needed.
• Provide map updates and corrections to GIS team.
• Assist with investigations and documentation related to excavation damages.
• Build relationships with excavation contractors to reduce damages.
• Be available for emergency locate response on a rotating basis.
